Craft Drinks Scene Roundup Jan. 4-10

By The Thirst Team

Welcome to 2024. January is a little quieter after all the mirth, merriness and madness of the holidays. Especially on the drinking scene, as the popularity of Dry January spreads. Many distilleries, breweries and bars are offering no-alcohol and low-alcohol drinks. And there are still a few fun happenings no matter how damp or drenched your January plans.

Prost opens in Northglenn

Prost Brewing Co. will officially move its headquarters to a new biergarten in Northglenn, which officially opens on Thursday. The 10,000-square-foot biergarten is part of Prost’s 60,000-square-foot production headquarters. German fare is available for lunch and dinner counter service.

Brew Year’s Eve

Some people celebrate the new year early, calling it a night once it hits midnight in New York (or London or Singapore — we don’t judge). Bierstadt Lagerhaus has the opposite idea. They will ring in the new year a full week late. The free Brew Year’s Eve industry party starts at 8 p.m. Sunday. The event includes alcohol-free cocktails, $6 lager liters, free mac and cheese bar, free shots for the 10 p.m. countdown, karaoke, beer pong tournament and more.

Beers for books

From 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Fiction Beer Co. in Denver will host a launch party for the Denver Public Library Winter of Reading program. The event includes library trivia at 3 p.m., and a beer release. The Book Nook Spiced Cream Ale is a collaboration with the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation, which will receive a percentage of sales. “This beer is crafted with a blend of winter spices and aims to evoke a sense of coziness, reminiscent of sitting by a warm fireplace with a good book in hand,” said the brewery in an email.

Beer for border collies (and golden retrievers, etc.)

Avery Brewing Co. teamed up with the National Ski Patrol to support patrol dogs across Colorado, donating revenue from the new Patrol Dog Pale Ale, which is available statewide.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
