Boulder Social’s brewery opens

Boulder Social hosts its official grand opening party tomorrow for the on-site brewery. Click here for more details about Boulder Social and several other new and upcoming Colorado craft businesses.

Ben Roy

Comedy at Great Divide

The Rotating Tap Comedy tour returns to the Great Divide Barrel Bar at 8 p.m. tomorrow for a free show. The solid lineup includes Ben Roy, Eeland Stribling, Nic Dean, and Erin Rose.

Crooked Stave anniversary

Crooked Stave Brewing celebrates 12 Years in business all day Saturday in the Denver taproom. They will release Beast & Barley, an American barleywine anniversary brew, in 4-packs and on draft. There will also be $12 specialty flights and a free taster for anyone wearing Crooked Stave garb.

Jerry Fest

Outer Range Brewing in Frisco marks its 6th anniversary with a party honoring the "Jerry," a skier or snowboarder that is blissfully clueless about mountain activities, style and etiquette. They will have specialty can releases and a DJ on Friday, and a Jerry Fest costume party on Saturday (think bold, bright ’80s garb) with inflatable jousting, a mechanical snowboard, DJs, pop up food and more. Recover Sunday at the hangover brunch.

Flash tattoo popup

Wah Gwaan Brewing in Denver warms up 2023 from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday with a day of self love, including a flash tattoo pop-up, food from 5280 Wings and More, and cupcakes from Flick of the Whisk. There also will be an affirmation station open all weekend. Write or draw a kind note to yourself, a loved one or someone else in the community, and the notes will become a community art piece in the brewery.

Book Fair

Last year, Fiction Beer in east Denver hosted the most successful book fair in the history of the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation. They hope to raise even more money for libraries with another book fair from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Books will be set up throughout the taproom and sold for $1 to $3 each.

Women’s Beer Club and Drag Bingo

Left Hand Brewing in Longmont hosts its first Ales 4 Females meetup of 2023 on Monday. Learn about homebrewing with brewer James Martella, who has more than 25 years of brewing experience, and enjoy a three-beer pairing with Bavarian breads and sides. Tickets cost $15.

The Left Hand tasting room also hosts drag bingo with Miss Jessica at 6 on Sunday.

Beer school and soccer

LUKI Brewery in Arvada launches a new beer education series at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday. The LUKI owner and head brewer starts with water next week, and will also dive deep on malt, hops, yeast and more in coming weeks. The sessions, designed for craft beer newbies, are free but registration is requested.

LUKI also opens at 7:30 a.m. this Saturday for Premier League soccer fans. Popular vote will decide which game is shown on the big TV with sound. Bring a breakfast snack to share, and get BOGO beer.

Upslope Cribbage Tournament

Another singles cribbage tournament is coming to the Upslope Flatiron Park tap room at 2 p.m. Sunday. Bring your own cribbage board and play to win prizes. Upslope’s Barrel Cellar also continues its weekly movie series with “The Social Network” on Monday, and “Forrest Gump” and “Almost Famous” on the big screen later this month.

Movies, fundraisers and more at Living the Dream

On Saturday, Living the Dream Brewing in Littleton hosts another kids’ movie night. Tickets are now available for “Minions: The Rise Of Gru” in the private event space, with chaperones from HRCA Backcountry Wilderness. Parents must stay at the brewery, but can relax kid-free in the taproom.

The brewery also is raising money for the Backcountry Wilderness Association tomorrow, donating $1 from every pint sold. And next Wednesday, Living the Dream has a “Harry Potter” quiz night for muggles and wizards. Prizes will go to the top three teams, and start with bonus points by wearing Harry Potter gear.

Vote for the best barrel idea (PHOTO)

There’s one week left to vote on Mobcraft Beer’s next barrel-aged beer. The brewery picked seven crowdsourced suggestions and will craft the most popular choice for release in 2024. My vote went to the Pal-Oh My, a Mexican lager with grapefruit juice, aged in tequila barrels. There also are two banana-infused suggestions, a blueberry Belgian, barrel-aged ambers and sours and a gin barrel-aged IPA.

Q-mmunity Love

Phantom Canyon Brewing Company will host Q-mmunity Love, a tribute to the LGBTQ+ community and the victims and survivors of Club Q, from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The event includes a live DJ and drag show, guest bartenders, snacks and more. All proceeds will go to the Club Q Compassion Fund and The Trevor Project.

Talia Tucker

Save the date for drag brunch (PHOTO)

Finally, save the date for another Club Q fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 21. Copper Kettle Brewing hosts a drag brunch and cosplay costume contest with Talia Tucker & Coco Bardot. Tickets cost $15 (including one free beer) and will likely sell out. All proceeds are going to the Official Club Q Fundraiser GoFundMe effort to help Club Q employees rebuild the club and create a memorial to last year’s horrific massacre.

The south Denver brewery also has a beer and cheese pairing with Truffle Cheese Shop at 6:30 tomorrow. Tickets cost $25 for four beer samples and four cheeses.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
