Grinding your way across Colorado

August 16, 2022 Steve Graham

Denver Skate Park

10 skateparks all over the state that provide thrills

By Johnny Burkin

You may not have noticed, but the skateboarding scene in Colorado has been flourishing for quite some time. And with new skateparks sprouting up all over the state, it's evident the culture is here to stay. So if you're looking to grind a few rails or grab a little air, here are 10 great skateparks in the Denver area and throughout Colorado that are sure to tickle any skater's fancy.

Denver Skatepark

It's no surprise that the state's biggest and best-known skatepark is found in the heart of downtown Denver. With 60,000 square feet to play with, the Denver Skatepark offers just about everything a skateboarder could ask for. From various sized bowls and ramps, to street staples like stairs and ledges, it truly is an oasis for skaters.

Frisco Skate Park

Frisco Skatepark

Having undergone a $600,000 remodel in 2019, the Frisco Skatepark is the definition of new and improved. Located next to the Frisco Day Lodge, the park is now nearly triple the size of its predecessor (28,000 square feet to be exact). And by that logic, it’s also nearly three times the fun - especially if you're a fan of its flowing jumps, humps and bowl pockets.

Schneider Park

Hugging the Animas River in Durango, Schneider Park has a lot to offer the skateboard enthusiast. Its recently upgraded skatepark not only has a nice set up for street and transition riding, but also makes good use of its scenic environment. Plus, the park itself gives you access to other outdoor activities like hiking or fishing.

Railbender Skatepark

Railbender Skatepark

This 35,000-square-foot park, which opened in Parker in 2008, was built with the street skater in mind. Its abundance of ledges and stairs provides a good training ground to hone your grinding and ollieing skills. The park also includes a nice mini bowl for beginners as well as a much larger and more advanced bowl setup.

Zeke M. Pierce Skatepark

Vail is known for its slopes. But when the snow melts, many put down their skis and snowboards and head to the Zeke M. Pierce Skatepark. Aptly named in honor of an avid skater and local teen that tragically passed away during a mountain biking accident, this 1.7 million dollar facility is truly one of a kind; mainly because it was built smack dab in the middle of a parking structure.

Centennial Skatepark

Centennial Skatepark in Greeley is a new addition to the Colorado skating scene. Opened in 2019, the park has many of the qualities that street and transition riders look for, but with the added benefit of never shuttering its doors. So whether you're an early bird or a night owl, this park has got you covered. It's no wonder many consider it to be one of the best in the state.

Memorial Park Skatepark

Coming in at 40,000 square feet, Memorial Skatepark in Colorado Springs is the state's second largest skate park. The park features a street course, a halfpipe, and a backyard-style pool. The park also includes a picnic pavilion, which is a nice perk for those who may just want to spectate.

Snowmass Village Skatepark

Snowmass Village Skatepark

Snowmass Village Skatepark in Aspen is arguably one of the most visually alluring places to skate in the entire state. The park features a nice array of bowls and street elements that should keep skaters of all levels entertained. If not, then the view alone should suffice.

Eagle Rim Skatepark

It may not be the biggest or most intricate park on this list, but there's just something about Eagle Rim Skate Park that stands out. It could just be the atmosphere that comes with being in Grand Junction. Or perhaps it's just the unique graffiti that adorns the park.

Curbside Skatepark

Living in Colorado means that the weather won't always be favorable. That is why Curbside Skatepark in Englewood is a great indoor option for all the skaters out there trying to escape the elements. And even though entry into the park won't be free, it does have other services to offer. Most notably, though, are its training and afterschool programs, which provide skaters with live coaching from an experienced staff.
