Bowling alleys become music meccas in northern Colorado

March 1, 2022 Paul Johnson

Strike or spare, prepare for a some rockin’ fun nights

By Jay McKinney

Regardless of skill level, everyone can have a fun night at the bowling alley. Pair it with live music and ensure an even better time at one of Chipper’s Lanes three locations. “Live on the Lanes” presented by Mishawaka, consistently provides a fun bowling experience, lineup of great bands and all ages are welcome.

“Live on the Lanes is providing three smaller stages on the Front Range for Mishawaka to book smaller bands with potential that want to grow their fan base and eventually get on stage at Mishawaka,” Grant says.  “We are happy to be able to provide more options for locals to play. It’s not for folk artists though, it has to be a party band because the vibe is rockin.”

While the Live on the Lanes performances have occurred for years, the concert experience has been enhanced thanks to a $250,000 upgrade in sound and lighting equipment. “The reaction was so positive,” says manager Dani Grant. “We made an additional commitment to bring concert level productions to not just one but three of our centers, upgrading the atmospheres and completely rebranding the locations.”

With each location, a general admission ticket is required, and the bowling is available on a first come first served basis for a separate cost. Each location features a variety of bands and the prices for entry vary.

Blast N Bowl

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, people can attend Blast N Bowl at Chipper’s Greeley location: 2454 West. Along with Mishawaka, the event will be presented by Blast N Scrap, a DIY multimedia performance space that mixes music, comedy and other forms of live art. The lineup for Blast N Bowl will feature The Midnight Horrors, Disposed, and Day Traitor. With this event, a ticket is still required but there is a suggested $10 donation at the door.

Pop-punk showcase

Another notable night will be April 2, when pop-punk bands Years Down and Revenge of the Scene take the stage with Stray the Course, also at the Greeley location. The music will start at 8 p.m. but anyone wishing to snag a bowling lane is encouraged to arrive when the doors open at 7 p.m.

DeadPhish Orchestra

For all the Grateful Dead and Phish fans out there, DeadPhish Orchestra will be performing back-to-back shows on April 8 and 9. On Friday, April 8, the show will take place at the Fort Collins location and on Saturday April 9, the band will be performing at the Broomfield location.
