GET OUT OF TOWN

Celebrate Colorado’s produce and products all over the state this week

By the Thirst Team

Get Out of Town is our weekly roundup of recommended events across Colorado. It’s peak peach season, so the three biggest peach festivals in Colorado are on tap this weekend, plus more celebrations of Colorado produce and products. For more happenings, check out our events calendar.

Lafayette Peach Festival

The equivalent of roughly the entire population of Lafayette (30,000 people) is expected at the Boulder County town’s annual peach festival. The free event is on Public Road in downtown Lafayette on Saturday, and includes fresh Palisade peach stands, peach pastries and treats, family activities, vendors and more.

Fort Collins Peach Festival

The Rotary Clubs of Northern Colorado also host thousands of people for live music, Palisade peach sales, peach foods, cocktails and beers, and more. Tickets cost $10, and the festival is in Civic Center Park in downtown Fort Collins on Saturday.

Palisade Peach Festival

The town of Palisade also will celebrate its most famous export at its 57th annual peach festival on Friday and Saturday in Riverbend Park.

The event includes peach drinks, food trucks, vendors, live music, a peach cuisine showdown, peach eating contest, paddleboarding for peaches and more.

Tickets start at $10, with additional options available for farm tours and feast in the field dinners.

Falconry experiences

Palisade’s second most famous export is wine. Several excellent Palisade wineries will host tours and other events during the peach festival. Talon Wines also offers exclusive and ticketed falconry experiences. Master Falconer Devin Jaffe, founder of Mile High Falcons, offers education and hands-on experiences with birds of prey.

Front Range Wine Festival

To enjoy more Colorado wine, check out the 13th annual Front Range Wine Festival on Saturday in Windsor. Tickets cost $50 online and $60 at the gate, and include a commemorative wine glass, wine tote and unlimited tastings of more than 300 wines representing at least 35 Colorado wineries.

VIP tickets also are available, including VIP Tent Access with catered food and wine bar.

Telluride Mushroom Festival

Since 1981, the Telluride Mushroom Festival has brought together mycologists, artists, foragers and enthusiasts to explore all things fungi. This year’s edition runs today through Sunday,

Full festival passes are no longer available, but resale tickets and individual event tickets are available here. In addition to a costume dance party, dinners and music, workshop topics include psychedelic research, cultivation, decriminalization and identification.

After the festival, Sutcliffe Vineyards in nearby Cortez will host a five-course mushroom dinner with famed chef Graham Steinruck, as well as wine pairings. Breckenridge International Festival of Arts

Summit County presents a wide range of global artists for 10 days of multidisciplinary events, starting Friday. Click here to read our story and learn more about the festival.

Thirst Party at Richman Beer Garden

On Friday, Richman Beer Garden hosts a Thirst Colorado party. We will be there with games, music, giveaways and more from 3 to 7 p.m. Win a snowboard, an Ameristar staycation and more.

Richman also offers half-price beer and food from 3 to 5 p.m. daily.

Save the date: Blues on the Mesa

The fifth annual Blues on the Mesa music festival is coming to Gold Hill Mesa in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Sept. 26. Grammy nominee Ruthie Foster headlines the show. The lineup also includes Mike Zito, Eden Brent, Jack Hadley and Grant Sabin.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. If they don’t fit in the Get Out of Town column, we will add them to our events calendar.
