Events of the week around Colorado

April 16, 2025 Steve Graham

Musketeer Gripweed is playing the Aggie Theatre on Saturday night as part of the FoCoMX festival.

Easter, 420 and Earth Day are all on tap … and that’s just Sunday

GET OUT OF TOWN

By the Thirst Team

Get Out of Town is our weekly roundup of recommended events across Colorado. This Sunday is both Easter and the unofficial National Cannabis Day, making for an interesting day at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, starting with an Easter sunrise service and closing with Wiz Khalifa at 420 on the Rocks.

There are plenty of other egg hunts, 420 parties and Earth Day events this weekend, so we are mostly focusing on other fun stuff around the state.

For more happenings, check out our events calendar.

Collaboration Beer Fest

Colorado has plenty of beer festivals, but only one that is all about community and exclusive brews. More than 180 breweries worked together on beers, most of which will only be poured at CollabFest. Put creative brewers together and you get everything from a grape soda sour (Something Brewery and 105 West Brewing) to a raspberry jalapeno popper ale (Coal Mine Ave Brewing, Wild Sky Brewery and Chain Reaction Brewing).

A few CollabFest tickets were left at press time, but they will sell out. Also, we will be there handing out magazines and swag, and running a drawing for cool 64-ounce DrinkTanks, just in time for camping season. Come say hello.

Local music in Fort Collins

FoCoMX (the Fort Collins Music Experiment) is Colorado’s biggest showcase of local music, packing more than 400 bands across every genre into more than 35 venues in downtown Fort Collins on Friday and Saturday.

Advance weekend passes cost $60 (which works out to about $2.50 per hour of non-stop music), and free passes are available for anyone who commits to at least one volunteer shift.

Dankgrass in Longmont

Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont hosts the free Dank Grass Fest on Saturday. It’s a dank IPA and bluegrass festival, with special beer releases, food trucks, vendors and cannabis-related businesses.

The Infamous Stringdusters’ Travis Book will bring an all-star lineup of his friends to headline the show. Fireside Collective, John Stickley Trio and High Country Hustle also will perform.

Sustainability at A-Basin

Arapahoe Basin hosts the Save Our Snow event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event includes information about sustainability issues as well as ski and snowboard demos, raffles and a silent auction. The aforementioned Travis Book and Friends also will play live music.

Access to unlimited demos costs $10. Pre-register for demos here. Proceeds benefit the High Country Conservation Center.

Easter beer hunt in Colorado Springs

A whole litter of Colorado Springs breweries will play Easter bunny on Sunday morning, hiding eggs with beer-y special prizes. At least 16 breweries are hopping on board, with more likely to be added, so check the social media channels for your favorite spots.

Save the date: Green Box Arts Festival

The Green Box Arts Festival runs from June 27 to July 12 in Green Mountain Falls, a town in the southern Colorado foothills northwest of Manitou Springs. The event includes performances, installations and events featuring renowned Colorado artists alongside diverse national and international talent.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. If they don’t fit in the Get Out of Town column, we will add them to our events calendar.
