Events of the week around Colorado

March 19, 2025 Steve Graham

The National Sports Center for the Disabled hosts a fundraiser Saturday in Winter Park.

Parties, charity skiing, music and more in the mountains, plus some urban arts

GET OUT OF TOWN

By the Thirst Team

Get Out of Town is our weekly roundup of recommended events across Colorado. For more happenings, check out our events calendar.

Charity skiing in Winter Park

On Saturday, Winter Park Resort hosts a day of skiing and snowboarding in support of the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Skiers and riders at any level can help raise funds for adaptive outdoor programs benefiting youth and adults with disabilities.

The day also includes lift challenges, scavenger hunts and a spring skiing costume contest. Registration costs $75 per person, including lift pass, chances to win IKON passes and other prizes, an après party from 4 to 6 p.m.

Sleds and kegs

Sleds and Kegs is a daylong party in Crested Butte on Saturday, with sledding, local drinks and bites, big air skiing and snowboarding, entertainment and more.

The event raises money for local scholarships, mental health initiatives, pet rescues and environmental conservation.

Beers will be offered from Zuni Street West, Irwin Brewing Company and Broken Compass Brewing. Montanya will make craft cocktails, and plenty of non-alcoholic options also will be available. Plantain Tree and Log Dawgs Wiener Wagon will have food.

Entertainment includes seven DJs, fire dancing, bubbles and more.

Big Richard in Steamboat

One of our favorite Colorado supergroups, Big Richard, is coming to the Strings Music Festival in Steamboat Springs on Saturday. Four accomplished Colorado musicians gathered in 2021 for a festival date, and found instant camaraderie and virtuosity, forming a long-term project as Big Richard. The quartet has since toured nationally, and played major festivals. Click here for our Big Richard profile.

The Strings Music Festival also brings comedian Kevin Nealon on Thursday, and Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners on Friday.

Boulder Ballet’s Revived

Boulder Ballet returns to the Dairy Arts Center with performances of “Revived” from March 21-23.

The show features works by renowned choreographers: Nicolo Fonte, Andrea Schermoly and Ben Needham-Wood. The heart of the performance is Fonte’s “The Heart(S)pace,” which explores grief, renewal and resilience.

Film festival in Silverthorne

Saturday is World Water Day, and the Eagle Summit Wilderness Alliance marks the occasion with the 2025 Wild & Scenic Film Festival. Advance tickets cost $35 for non-members, including films, food, drink, drawings and auctions and community, all to benefit ESWA's mission to protect local wilderness areas.

Summer theater on-sale

Tickets are on sale Thursday for the summer season at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre in Grand Lake. This year’s lineup includes “Frozen,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Footloose” and “Nunsense.”

Save the date: Lander Brewfest

There is always plenty to do in Colorado, but our neighboring states can be pretty cool, too. For example, Lander is just east of the Wind River Range in Wyoming, and not far from the Colorado border. The town hosts the Lander Brewfest on June 13 and 14.

Click here for tickets, or take your chances and wait for our giveaway next month. Sign up for our newsletter for details about the contest, which includes festival tickets and a hotel stay.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. If they don’t fit in the Get Out of Town column, we will add them to our events calendar.
