Run for your beer at Barquentine and beyond

February 10, 2025 Steve Graham
Runners take off from Barquentine Brewing at the 2024 Brewery Running Series kickoff party.

Popular Colorado brewery run series officially kicks off this week

By the Thirst Team

Dry January is over, and the commitment to New Year’s fitness resolutions may be slipping. So it’s the perfect time to sign up for the Colorado Brewery Running Series.

More than 30 runs, from 5Ks to half-marathons, are coming to breweries up and down the Front Range this year, and the series officially gets on track with a kickoff party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Barquentine Brewing in Edgewater. The event is free, but registration is requested.

The kickoff includes a free and optional 5K fun run around Sloan's Lake, with giveaways and discounts on future runs for runners. Other exclusive discounts also will be available at the party, including $429 season passes.

Season passes are valued at more than $1,000, and include access to every 5K, including sold-out runs, a second free beer at each event, a t-shirt, 4 free buddy passes, and extra perks throughout the season.

The Barquentine kickoff party also includes live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and happy hour beer prices.

The Brewery Running Series started in 2012 with one event to celebrate Global Running Day. Local teams now organize more than 300 live events and virtual challenges in at least 20 states. Each family-friendly run starts and ends at a local brewery or tasting room, and a portion of proceeds always supports local nonprofits.

The runs also always end with live music, food, giveaways and sponsor activities. Every runner receives a craft drink and collectible pint glass or seasonal swag item.

The Colorado Brewery Running Series also offers a virtual distance challenge. This monthlong brings rewards based on the number of miles you run throughout the month.

Upcoming runs along the Front Range include:

  • Feb 22 5K at Two22 Brew in Aurora

  • March 2 Onesie 5K at Brewdog Denver

  • March 16 Shamrock 7K at Wibby Brewing in Longmont

  • April 12 5K at Zuni Street Brewing

  • April 27 Half Marathon and 5K fun run at Left Hand Brewing in Longmont
