Events of the week around Colorado

August 14, 2024 Steve Graham

Devyn Rae will perform at the Front Range Wine Festival in Windsor on Saturday.

Plenty of tasty Colorado peaches, wine, beer and more on tap for the weekend

GET OUT OF TOWN

By The Thirst Team

Get Out of Town is our weekly roundup of recommended events across Colorado, focusing outside of Denver, to help everyone enjoy the whole great state. For Denver happenings (and more), check out our events calendar.

This week brings more chances to check out some underrated Colorado towns and enjoy great Colorado music and libations.

Front Range Wine Festival

Windsor is between Fort Collins and Greeley, and boasts a great recreation lake, and professional baseball and soccer teams. This weekend, it also hosts a major wine festival.

At least 35 wineries will offer samples of more than 300 Colorado wines. Iconix, a high-energy 80s rock cover band will headline the show. Devyn Rae and Mountain Duo also will perform.

Tickets are available now, but are likely to sell out.

Millions of peaches

If you haven’t had any Palisade peaches yet, you aren’t doing August right. But it’s not too late. Peach festivals are scheduled all over the state this weekend.

You can go straight to the source for the 56th Annual Palisade Peach Festival on Friday and Saturday. The event includes cooking demos, a historic talk, paddle boarding for peaches, live music, a vendor market, peach eating and BBQ contests and more.

The Fort Collins Rotary Clubs also host a banger of a peach festival on Saturday, with six Fort Collins breweries crafting special beers, as well as live music, food trucks, vendors and more in downtown Fort Collins.

Also on Saturday, The Lafayette Peach Festival promises more than 30,000 pounds of peaches for sale at four locations around town, as well as food, vendors, kids’ activities and more.

Heritage Brew Festival

At least 20 Colorado breweries will pour samples at the ninth annual Manitou Springs Heritage Brew Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. The event also includes yard games, live music and more.

Tickets start at $39 for drinkers, and $10 for designated drivers or non-drinkers.

The Runaway Grooms headline the Mountain Town Music Festival on Saturday.

Mountain Town Music Festival

Keystone caps off its summer festival season with the Mountain Town Music Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Runaway Grooms, a psychedelic Americana jam band from Vail, will headline the event. Alternative 90s hitmakers Freddy Jones Band are also on the bill, and the Salida Circus will entertain between music sets.

Save the date: Durango Arts Festival

The Durango Autumn Arts Festival is slated for Sept 21 and 22. The free event fills Second Avenue in downtown Durango with art and artists, and late September should be the perfect time to see the fall colors in and around town.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. If they don’t fit in the Get Out of Town column, we will add them to our events calendar. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
