GET OUT OF TOWN

By Steve Graham

Get Out of Town is our weekly roundup of recommended events across Colorado, mostly focusing outside of Denver, to help everyone enjoy the entire state. For more happenings, check out our events calendar.

Balistreri Harvest Party

Parents can win big points with their kids by taking them to Balistreri Vineyards to make a mess of themselves stomping grapes during the annual harvest party on Sunday.

The event also includes wine tasting (for parents, not the kids), woodfired pizza, a pig roast, other kids’ activities and more.

Balistreri is an oasis of greenery and old-world charm in a fairly industrial corner of north Denver, with great food and award-winning natural wines.

Pueblo Multicultural Festival

The 6th annual multicultural festival is coming to Pueblo’s Mineral Palace Park on Saturday, with Aztec, Russian, Native American and Tahitian dancing, as well as food, art, vendors, live music and more.

Grand Junction festivals

The Downtown Grand Junction Creative District hosts its ninth annual Downtown Art Festival on Friday and Saturday.

The event opens with an especially vibrant First Friday gallery walk on Friday. On Saturday, an Artists Expo takes over four blocks of Main Street, with live artist demos, dance performances and more. A new temporary exhibit will be unveiled at Art on the Corner, which turns 40 this year.

The Saturday festival is followed by Porchella, which brings live music to the neighborhoods surrounding downtown from 4 to 9 p.m.

Tour de Corgi

Old Town Fort Collins hosts the 10th annual Tour de Corgi parade and festival on Saturday. The meet-up begins at 9 a.m. in Civic Center Park, followed by a costume contest at 10, and the parade at noon.

Proceeds benefit corgi rescues in Colorado and Wyoming, and the 4 Paws Pet Pantry.

Handmade in Colorado expo

The 17th annual Handmade in Colorado Expo is a juried art and craft showcase and sale that travels the state. The event also includes live local music, and admission is free.

The final 2024 edition of the expo comes to Vail Village from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. If they don’t fit in the Get Out of Town column, we will add them to our events calendar.
