Tincup introduces adventure pack reusable canteen for backcountry use

By David Young

Tincup Mountain Whiskey may be the most camping-centric whiskey on the market. Aside from having the word “Mountain” right in the name, Tincup founder Jess Graber notes that the unique hexagonal bottle that TINCUP comes in won’t roll away from your sleeping bag in the middle of the night.

With the company’s dedication to the mountains it is created in, it should be no surprise that Tincup is premiering an innovative new Adventure Pack with an outdoor-focused double-walled, stainless steel, reusable canteen.

The refillable canteen looks like a smaller blue version of a traditional Tincup bottle and will fit easily in a pack for hiking, backpacking, climbing, fishing, skiing, or any other backcountry adventure.

The Adventure Pack goes on sale this week for $29.99 and includes the sleek new lightweight blue canteen filled with 375ml of Tincup whiskey, ready for outdoor adventures anywhere glass may be too heavy to carry or could break.

“I’ve been using the canteen all winter and spring and love how burly it is. You never have to worry about it breaking and it’s super easy to refill. It’s turned into a ‘piece of gear’ that just gets thrown into the pack,” said Tincup Ambassador and world-renowned filmmaker and expedition leader Matt Segal in a statement.

Segal is part of Tincup’s new Find Your Partner in Adventure campaign aimed at getting people outside to connect over a whiskey or two. On July 29, Tincup and Outbound Collective are hosting a free Mountain Mixer outdoor adventure at Snow Mesa Ranch in Granby, as part of the new campaign.

In tandem with the release of the new Adventure Pack, Tincup is partnering with Leave No Trace, a non-profit organization dedicated to procuring a sustainable future for the outdoors and the planet. Tincup donated $10,000 in support of Leave No Trace’s mission to protect nature and the great outdoors.

The donation will help provide innovative education, skills, research, and science to help better care for the outdoors. With the exponential growth of people visiting trails and outdoor areas, the release of a reusable bottle Leave No Trace is working to protect Colorado’s pristine mountains.

Tincup has a history of honoring Colorado’s great outdoors and supporting the trails where the whiskey is enjoyed. In 2022, Tincup released its first Tincup Fourteener, a 14-year-old whiskey named in honor of Colorado’s famed 14,000-foot peaks. The label showcased Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. For that release, Tincup donated $14,000 to the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative to support its Adopt a Peak Initiative. That donation went to the Adopt work on Grays and Torreys Peaks.

Launched in 2008, Tincup is a bourbon-style whiskey made with corn, rye, and malted barley. It is a blend of two American whiskeys aged in No. 3 charred white American oak barrels, “High rye” bourbon, distilled and aged in Indiana, blended with Colorado single malt whiskey and cut with Colorado water.

The Tincup Adventure Pack (suggested retail price: $29.99) was released on July 12 at tincupwhiskey.com and retailers nationwide.
