Craft Drinks Scene Roundup March 1-7

By the Thirst Team

Here’s what’s happening this week at some of our favorite Colorado craft libations spots.

Dos Luces reopens

First off, a somewhat happy ending to a sad story. A vehicle drove into Dos Luces Brewing last Tuesday, smashing the front door. The brewery put in a temporary doorway and reopened this week. For those who can’t make it to the brewery, the owners are requesting gift card purchases to help fund their construction costs.

Nitro Fest comes to Denver

The “biggest celebration of Nitro beer in the galaxy” is even bigger this year, after moving to Denver’s Mission Ballroom, across the street from Left Hand Brewing’s new Denver outpost. The event starts at 4 p.m. Saturday, with 40 breweries, aerialists, circus performers and a concert by Ott.

Sumukh Torgalkar

Beer, cheese and jokes

At press time, a few tickets remain for a comedy show tonight with headliner Sumukh Torgalkar, and a Welsh Rabbit beer and cheese pairing tomorrow night at Sparge Brewing in Wellington. Proceeds benefit the Wellington Kiwanis Club, food bank and American Legion Post.

WeldWerks party

WeldWerks Brewing Co. in Greeley marks its eight-year anniversary this weekend, with eight anniversary beer releases, specialty tappings, and a Sunday beer brunch.

FlyteCo anniversary

The original FlyteCo taproom in north Denver celebrates its 4th anniversary all weekend, with four beer releases (including two new collaborations), a karaoke party on Friday, a DJ on Saturday and a hangover brunch (a four-course brunch and beer pairing) on Sunday.

Pig day and pajama bus

Resolute Brewing Co. in Centennial and Hog Haven Farm will host a National Pig Day event from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday, with live pigs, farm merch, a raffle and a vegan food truck. A portion of all sales benefit the farm. It is a family-friendly event and pet pigs are welcome, but no dogs.

To keep the party going, spend $5 to ride from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday on a pajama-themed bus route between Resolute and three other Centennial area breweries: Halfpenny Brewing, Lone Tree Brewing and Peak View Brewing.

Breakfast at Cerebral

Cerebral Brewing in central Denver hosts its annual Work From Home breakfast at 10 a.m. Saturday, with breakfast porters, cartoons, waffles and bacon. A $50 general admission ticket includes a screen-printed retro enamelware mug; pours of both the Work from Home porter and the barrel-aged variant; and a waffle and bacon.

Beer and bacon at Denver Beer

Denver Beer Co. now has four taprooms, which means there are four places for the annual Beer, Bacon and Coffee Fest. Get unlimited beer, bacon and coffee, plus a giant breakfast burrito and a souvenir mug with every ticket. The event runs from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at all four locations (although Saturday’s Platte taproom event is already sold out).

Boot camp and coffee at Copper Kettle

Copper Kettle Brewing Co. in southeast Denver has a busy week on tap. A $15 brewery boot camp starts at 11 a.m. Sunday. Pre-registration is requested on the brewery boot camp app. Walk-ins are asked to arrive 10 minutes early to sign a waiver.

A beer and coffee tasting with Locus Coffee comes to CKBC next Thursday, March 9, which also marks the release of the 2023 Snowed In vanilla stout.

Red Leg artist showcase (PHOTO)

Colorado Springs’ Red Leg Brewing hosts an in-person artist showcase with Rebekah Haas from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The brewery also has a new Wisecrack Wizenbock on tap starting Friday.

Shuffleboard league at Call to Arms

Call to Arms Brewing in northwest Denver hosts a new team shuffleboard league every Thursday night starting this week.

Release of the week

Dry Dock Brewing releases two beers (a 5-percent ABV citrus wheat and 9-percent ABV gluten-free Blackberry Mule Docktail) on Saturday at the South Dock location with games, deals, food trucks and new merch.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
