Durango offers fair weather and every outdoor opportunity one can imagine. When the destination is southwest Colorado, get lost in the scenery while enjoying the thrills that keep your heart pounding. When you get done, quench your thirst and share your story in the taproom at one of Durango’s five breweries.

Ziplining

Only accessible by train, Soaring Treetop Adventures is the largest zipline course in the U.S. Swinging through the San Juan National Forest is an exciting experience for all ages. Varying lengths of ziplines, from 56 to 1,400 feet, make for a unique way to enjoy the southwestern Colorado wilderness.

Tubing

Possibly the most relaxing way to take in Durango from the water is tubing. Drifting along the Animas River is one of the most enjoyable ways to appreciate a mountain view while kicking back on a tube with family or friends.

Bike Packing

A relatively new wilderness activity has entered the scene in the form of bike packing. This challenging activity is a combination of mountain biking and hiking with a pack. Bikers head onto the trails while carrying their gear on their backs or on a bike rack. While this is not for the faint of heart, it can certainly make for an action-packed adventure.

Durango Hot Springs Resort & Spa

Surround yourself with hot mineral water, gorgeous mountain views and your favorite person when you settle into the renovated Durango Hot Springs. The healing waters are located between the town of Durango and the Purgatory Resort.

Railroad

The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is Durango’s most popular attraction. The train’s path through the San Juan Mountains passes by Cascade Canyon and shows off the Durango scenery like no other. The experience of riding the train is a step back in time to the wild west that has appealed to all ages for more than a century.
