Let’s Raise a Glass for Veterans

Old 121 Brewhouse is throwing a patriotic party for Colorado veterans. On Friday, Dec. 16, from 5-9 p.m. guests can celebrate the third annual release of the brewery’s Pride & Patriotism Lager. The delicious 4.5 percent ABV lager has just as much flavor as the past versions and is a fitting tribute to the state’s veterans.

“We are thrilled to keep the Pride & Patriotism Amber Lager going for its third year,” says Sam Nicholson, co-owner, and head brewer of Old 121 Brewhouse. “Just like the last two years, the beer has a delicious malty backbone, but is a very light and drinkable beer.”

Located in Lakewood, Old 121 Brewhouse has been making a difference in the community since it opened in 2019. The brewery has done multiple partnerships with local organizations, highlighted local artists and of course, served amazing beers. This year’s Pride & Patriotism Lager was brewed shortly after Veteran’s Day with help from members of the Colorado Veterans Project (CVP) and is yet another example of the brewery’s philanthropic character.

“We always want to support members of our community whenever we can, and veterans are an extremely important part of our neighborhood, not only for Lakewood, but for the entire country,” says Katie Nicholson, co-owner of Old 121 Brewhouse. “We hope this beer brings the community together and creates a platform to help elevate veterans in our community as well.”

Not only will people love the beer, but $1 from every pint sold benefits the CVP. As a nonprofit organization, the CVP hosts special events that help raise awareness and funds for the nation’s veterans.

“We’re excited to continue our wonderful partnership with Old 121 Brewhouse and thankful for the Brewhouse’s continued support of the Colorado Veterans Project,” says Bobbi Mastalka, operations coordinator and board chief relationship officer of the CVP.

The monthly subscription service, Swig & Sport provides deals at breweries, distilleries and wineries and has also partnered with the brewery for the special event. The company is offering a special sign-up code, “VETERANS” which will also benefit Colorado veterans.

While the Pride & Patriotism Lager will be the honorary beer, the party will also include the special release of a cask beer, which is a limited run of the brewery’s flagship Honey Brown American Brown Ale. Despite the difference in flavors, both beers shine in their own right.

Along with the great beers on tap, guests can enjoy live music from local band, Lola Rising, and meet the veteran artists from VFW Post 1 (Veterans of Foreign Wars) who have had their artwork on display in the brewery throughout December as part of its rotating art. Those who are interested can purchase the displayed artworks.
