Craft Drinks Scene Roundup Nov. 16 to Nov. 23

The Thirst Team

There’s a big new taproom in Denver, a brewery turning 4 in Aurora and plenty of breweries and distilleries helping you get ready for the holidays. Bring on the fun.

Also, I didn’t include any World Cup soccer watch parties, yet. Watch this space tomorrow for a list of great places to catch the world’s most watched sporting event.

Left Hand lands in RiNo

Left Hand RiNo officially opens today adjacent to Mission Ballroom, with 26 taps, seven of which will pour nitro beers, and an eclectic food menu. The grand opening party runs from 5 to 10 p.m. The new outpost will also house a small pilot-brewery system.

Bent Barley anniversary

Bent Barley Brewing in Aurora celebrates its 4th anniversary with special beers today through Sunday, along with raffles, new merch and the launch of the 2023 Mug Club. New tappings include a rye porter, Christmas saison and two bourbon barrel barleywines.

Rescue puppies at Sunroom

Sunroom Brewing in Englewood hosts a rescue puppy meet and greet at 6:30 tomorrow night, and rescue puppy yoga at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Farmer in the Hive food truck also will be there, and the brewery offers discounts for those wearing Avalanche gear during games, so dust off that Stanley Cup jersey.

Sunroom also has a $10 “buy a pint, keep the glass” special on Tuesday nights. By the way, quit stealing glassware from breweries when it’s not “keep the glass” night. It’s theft. You’re making life harder for craft breweries and driving up prices for all of us.

Craft a grazing board at Goat Patch

Made For You Catering hosts a grazing board workshop at noon Saturday, Nov. 19, at Goat Patch Brewing in Colorado Springs. In time for holiday celebrations, learn to craft an attractive and tasty meat and cheese board. Pick up styling ideas, food pairings, and more.

Goldspot beer pairing dinner

Goldspot Brewing in north Denver hosts a dinner and beer pairing at 6 p.m. Saturday in honor of Indigenous Peoples month. Chef and author Andrea Murdoch will prepare the dinner and sell and sign her book “Bring Them Home.” All menu items are gluten-free with a vegetarian option, and will be paired with a craft beer from Goldspot, with gluten-free options available. Book sales support the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition.

Denver Beer pie pairing

On Saturday, Denver Beer will pair three Hinman hand pies with five 4-oz beers. Granny Smith The Apple Pie is paired with a barrel-aged wheatwine and a new juicy IPA; the Cherry Pie is paired with a key lime pie sour and Denver Gold; and the pumpkin pie is paired with a barrel-aged wheatwine and Graham Cracker Porter

Timed tickets cost $30, and are available for all three Denver Beer Co. locations.

Whiskey and cheese tasting

Rocker Spirits in Littleton hosts a guided whiskey and cheese tasting event at 4 p.m. Sunday. Head distiller Nick Hutch and flavor pairing specialist Molly Badger take you through five courses of artisanal cheeses, gourmet bites and spirits, including bourbon, rye, eggnog and a new triticale.

Release of the week

Deki Spirits in Lafayette just released a limited-edition peppermint schnapps in a pretty holiday-themed bottle. The distillery also recently released a new batch of Quarterdeck spiced rum, with holiday spices and creamed brown sugar.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
