Music festivals rock the state this weekend

If you have been excited about getting back to seeing live music, this weekend is definitely your chance. Festivals will fill our sunny skies with tunes all weekend. Here’s a quick roundup.

Jazz Aspen Snowmass closes out summer with a lineup of big-name talent. A few tickets are still available for:

Kings of Leon and Gary Clark Jr. on Friday, Sept. 3

Eric Church, Sheryl Crow and Larkin Poe on Saturday, Sept. 4

Jimmy Buffett, Maren Morris and YOLA on Sunday, Sept. 5

Friday and Saturday night also have silent disco parties following the headlining concerts. 

Please note that all attendees of any age are required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result obtained within 72 hours of attendance.

SolShine Music Festival

Over the mountains in Winter Park, Leftover Salmon headlines a bluegrass festival starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4. Hunker Down and the Rick Lewis Project also are on the schedule at the Rendezvous Event Center.

Colorado State Fair

It’s your last chance to visit the state fair in Pueblo, which closes on Monday. There’s always a wide array of activities and festivities at the fair, and the music lineup for the closing weekend is equally diverse. Country star Jon Pardi, who hit No. 1 on country charts with “Head over Boots” and “Heartache Medication” plays on Friday, Sept. 3. Rap legend Nelly plays Saturday, Sept. 4. And Loverboy will be working on the weekend instead of “Working for the Weekend,” playing on Sunday night. Finally, Monday night brings “Celebración de los Charros with Luis Ángel, El Flaco.”

The Taste of Colorado

Back in Denver, the Taste of Colorado offers a diverse sampling of music alongside all the food. The festival and the music stages are running all day for all three days of the holiday weekend. The Saturday concerts open with Marcel and Janelle at 11 a.m., and close with Chris Daniels and the Kings at 6:30 p.m. The Sunday lineup includes Tito Malaga at 11 a.m., Cold Replay at 2 p.m., and Soul Food Band at 6:30 p.m. Monday opens with James Hurtado at 11 a.m., and closes with Remezcla Latin Band at 6:30 p.m.

Summerfest 

Finally, Center for the Arts Evergreen hosts the 41st annual Summerfest art show and concert on Saturday and Sunday. Music includes Bagpiper Dan Kingsley at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Joe By and Friends and 3 p.m. Saturday, and Dr. Poz and Friends at 2:40 p.m. Sunday.
