Get Your Lighters Ready and bring your popcorn!

Get ready to get out of the house and get up to Morrison for some entertainment at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Audiences can spend an evening with the Colorado Symphony or head up for a Film on the Rocks Drive-In evening.

To be sure, the Symphony’s Acoustic on the Rocks performances have sold out as fast as they can produce them. Described as a “once-in-a-lifetime, live acoustic performance at Colorado’s beloved Red Rocks Amphitheater” by the Symphony, the shows feature about 20 top-notch musicians performing for 75 minutes without an intermission.

The fact that the first five nights of performances sold out within a few days is a testament to how excited Coloradans are about getting back into the concert swing. But for the music lovers who missed the opportunity to grab tickets to the early events, fret not - there are more coming your way.

The next shows will feature Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on Sept. 9-13.

Despite having to cancel its regular season through December, “the Symphony is committed to continue bringing limited-capacity, socially distanced concerts like the successful, sold-out Acoustic on the Rocks series to our community for as long as possible,” according to a press release. “We are grateful to have partnered with the Denver Botanic Gardens and Denver Arts and Venues to successfully program and execute nearly 30 live, in-person concert events during the pandemic.”

Additionally, drive-in-movie experiences are also scheduled throughout September. Movies include: “Love and Basketball,” “The Princess Bride,” “Star Wars: A New Hope,” “Fight Club,” “Selena,” and many others.

Despite the slight resurgence of shows, most of the popular concerts were canceled because of the pandemic. Artists like O.A.R., Lauv, Rascal Flatts and Nickelback were scheduled to play but had to reprioritize due to COVID-19.

Boulder’s Gasoline Lollipops did manage to schedule a Sept. 14 show at the vaunted venue, but it sold out within minutes of going on sale.

Typically, the concert season at Red Rocks is full to the brim with shows. During the summer of 2019, the venue hosted more than 100 shows between May and September. Nevertheless, the reinstitution of Red Rocks as a venue - not just as a place to work out - is being welcomed with open arms.

More events are possible. Checkout the venue’s website or Facebook page to confirm what shows will be held.
