Pick your style of haircut and beer at Saloon Cuts

Sure, we’ve all experienced unique beer pairings before, but what about pairing a local craft beer with a professional haircut?

While living in Washington D.C., Jared Broach realized there weren’t many barbershops, and he was never impressed with those he visited. “The worst thing to do as a guy is go to a barbershop and wait 30 minutes to get a haircut with nothing to do,” he said. This is when he got the idea for Saloon Cuts, a barbershop with a bar.

Broach brought his idea to Colorado and began searching for a location to launch. “I actively looked for about a year and a half. I had the cash to back the offers, but I was told no five or six times,” Broach said, adding that he got the cold shoulder because the owners of retail locations did not understand his concept because nobody else was doing it.

“Finally, we found a barbershop for sale on Craigslist. We bought it, so we didn’t have to worry about leasing,” he said.

Saloon Cuts, 2420 E. Midway Blvd., in Broomfield, currently has four craft beers on tap, including a sour from Black Bottle Brewery, Declaration Brewing’s Impure Penelope Armstrong IPA, Lone Tree Brewing’s Mexican Lager and Apricot Blonde from Drydock Brewing Co. The taps are accompanied by more than 20 other cans and bottles, including Rockyard Brewing’s Hopyard IPA and Crank Yanker IPA from Eddyline Brewery. They serve beer in custom Mason jars with lids to protect them from hairs that fly astray. Broach said he would like to have a full whiskey bar, but he was thwarted by the state, which can’t issue a full liquor license at his location.

This isn’t just a place where you’d go to get a haircut, said Elizabeth Same, general manager of Saloon Cuts. There are plenty of regulars who will just stop for a beer after work. “There are a couple breweries and bars in the area, but some people just walk in here to hang out,” Same said.

Aside from their original store, which opened June 2 in Broomfield, Broach said he plans to open three or four more throughout the Front Range. “We are scoping out locations in the Centennial and Parker area,” Broach said. He’s also eyeing locations in downtown Denver, Lakewood and Boulder.

Saloon Cuts offers exceptional services at a price that won’t break the bank. “We want to be your neighborhood barbershop at the affordable price range,” said Broach. He also paid a compliment to his stylists, who are outfitted in short-shorts and tank tops. “I’ll put my girls against any other barbers in the area, and they look a lot better too,” he said.
