Tis' the season to ditch your neighbor's ugly sweater party and head to Rackhouse Pub in Denver's RiNo District for some holiday shenanigans.

The inaugural Ho Ho Ho Slapdown will feature exclusive seasonal beers from five top area brewers. Guests will have the chance to sample all entries and cast a vote for their favorite.

The event aims to showcase the brewer’s creativity and smack-talking skills in the spirit of friendly competition. The concept was born in 2014 but this is the first time the group will open the event to the public with hopes of turning it into an annual tradition.

“We’ve all been friends for years and we wanted to create an opportunity to push each other,” said Ashleigh Carter of Bierstadt Lagerhaus. “Brewing isn’t always fun and games so this is a chance for all of us to cut loose and have some fun with our beers and bring the public in.”

Smackdown 2016 Contenders:

Marks Lanham - Comrade Brewing Co.

Cory Carvatt - Barrels & Bottles Brewery

Brett Williams - Little Machine Beer

Jake Gardner - Hogshead Brewery

Ashleigh Carter/Bill Eye - Bierstadt Lagerhaus

The event is open to the public and takes place on Dec. 3 from Noon to 4 p.m. inside Rackhouse Pub at 2875 Blake St., in Denver.

Tickets are $20 and include samples of all five entries and a ballot to cast your vote for your favorite brew. Tickets are available online at nightout.com or at Rackhouse Pub and can be purchased the day of the event.
