High Country Beverage Receives National Award for Sustainability and Moderate Consumption

LOVELAND, COLO. – Oct. 26, 2016 – High Country Beverage, a family-owned and community-focused beer distributor, was honored by Heineken USA (HUSA) with the 1864 Award for Responsibility and Sustainability. The national award is given to two companies who exemplify outstanding sustainability efforts and promotion of moderate consumption.

High Country Beverage promotes responsible drinking through its TAKE CARE® Responsibility Program, which educates young adults on the dangers of alcohol abuse and provides practical guidance for living a healthy lifestyle. In addition, High Country Beverage is a proud partner of Team Fort Collins, a local nonprofit dedicated to preventing drug and alcohol abuse in the community. Sustainability efforts include fleet carbon emissions reduction, using electric warehouse equipment, and laying a conduit for electric vehicle charging stations.

“At High Country Beverage, our community is always our first priority,” said Steve Nichols, President of High Country Beverage. “It is truly an honor to be recognized for all that we do to keep our neighbors healthy and safe.”

The award was presented on Oct. 20, 2016 at the HUSA annual National Distributor Conference in Chicago, Ill. In order to be considered by judges, applicants submitted initiatives that demonstrated measurable commitment to the environment and the health of their consumers.
