Support service members' families on Memorial Day

Red Leg Brewing Co. Hosts the Angel Run

By Jay McKinney

Red Leg Brewing Co. is dedicated to supporting the families of fallen veterans. On Memorial Day, the Colorado Springs brewery will host the 4th annual Angel Run from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 2323 Garden of the Gods Rd. The Angel Run is a 5K fundraiser that supports Angels of America’s Fallen. However, this year’s event is adding a 10K in addition to the virtual run option.

Angels of America’s Fallen is a nonprofit organization that helps care for the children of fallen service members and first responders. The national organization is dedicated to honoring the legacy of these fallen heroes by guiding their children through crucial developmental years of life. Angels of America’s Fallen does this on an individual basis by directly funding the healthy developmental activity of the child’s choice. Whether it be through sports, music or other arts, children will find value by honing their interests with the direction of a coach or instructor.

“Memorial Day is an important day for remembering all the individuals who sacrificed their lives in defense of the greatest gift our nation bestows upon each citizen, freedom,” says Todd Baldwin, owner and founder of Red Leg Brewing Co.  “Every year Red Leg Brewing Company gets the opportunity to put on our fabulous event, Angel Run, to raise awareness and funds to support the children of those who made that sacrifice. Angels of America's Fallen for years have embarked on the mission of empowering children through meaningful activities. Red Leg and its employees are once again proud to be able to honor and serve these youngsters.”

Angels of America’s Fallen and its mission are very important to the employees at veteran-owned Red Leg Brewing Co. With a goal of raising $25,000 and bringing out 400 runners, the brewery is counting on the support of the Colorado Springs community. Participants can register for the Angel Run through the brewery’s website where they can choose the option they’d like. The original 5K is $35, while the 10K is slightly more, at $40. The virtual option is $25.

For those who aren’t interested in running, the brewery will host a donation-based yoga class on the rooftop. Or there’s always the option to just donate money and drink beer until the live music kicks off at 10 a.m. Regardless of how one chooses to participate, this year’s Angel Run is sure to make for an unforgettable Memorial Day and everyone is welcome to join.
