World Beer Cup awards prizes to 19 Colorado breweries

By the Thirst Team

A total of 24 awards went to 19 Colorado breweries at the World Beer Cup award ceremony yesterday in Nashville.

Winners were selected by an international panel of 272 beer judges from 26 countries, who tasted 10,213 beers from 2,376 breweries in 51 countries.

“Colorado brewers continue to prove that they brew world class beers through their consistency and diversity in beer styles” says CBG Executive Director Shawnee Adelson in a press release. “This is demonstrated by the number of repeat winners and new winners that took home hardware this year.”

Eight breweries won their first World Beer Cup medals. Cannonball Creek Brewing Company earned their third World Beer Cup award for the same Trump Hands beer.

Karen Hertz, founder of Holidaily Brewing Company, said her brewery’s win is a victory for specialty brewers and their customers.

“The mission of this company is built around getting great-tasting, gluten-free beer in the hands

of those who typically can’t drink beer due to dietary restrictions.” said Hertz. “Winning an

international competition like this proves that craft beer drinkers don’t have to miss out just

because they follow a gluten-free diet.”
