Craft Drinks Scene Roundup Oct. 19-25

The Thirst Team

Queertoberfest

Goldspot Brewing, a queer woman-owned brewery, is hosting a beer festival dedicated to raising money for local nonprofits that uplift BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Fourteen local breweries will pour beer, and donate a dollar per pour to a non-profit organization of the brewery’s choice, starting at noon Saturday.

South in Your Mouth Festival

Why have a festival once a year when you can have it twice a year? South metro (hence the name) breweries rotate hosting duties every six months for a celebration of their beer and culture.

The next edition runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Halfpenny Brewing. A $35 ticket gets a commemorative glass and four-ounce pours from 11 breweries, as well as music and giveaways. Proceeds go to The Colorado Parks Foundation.

A Dog’s World is co-hosting the pumpkin carving and pet adoption event at Living the Dream Brewing.

Pumpkin carving and pet adoption

A little west of Halfpenny, over in Littleton, Living the Dream Brewing hosts a pumpkin carving and rescue dog adoption party at noon Saturday. The event also includes drink specials and a professional pumpkin patch dog photo shoot, with all proceeds going to the Doggy Dog World Rescue building fund. A food truck and vendors also will be on hand.

Ullrvation at Elevation

Elevation Beer in Poncha Springs invites fans to appease the god of winter at the fourth annual Ullrvation party from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The party includes live music, beer and food specials and a raffle to benefit Chaffee County Search and Rescue South. Attendees also can compete for the best neon costume and hone their backcountry skills with Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center, which will give out prizes for fastest transitions and gear deployment.

Goatflix and Chill: Hocus Pocus

Rocky Mountain Goat Yoga is taking its goats to Goat Patch Brewing to watch the ‘90s halloween classic “Hocus Pocus” for an all-ages screening. The event starts at 6 p.m. Saturday. It is outdoors, and lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.

FlyteCo Fall Fest

FlyteCo has a very on-brand new location inside the historic Stapleton Airport flight tower, where the brewery is hosting a family fun fall festival, including a kids costume contest, face painting, trick-or-treating and mini pumpkin decorating. Pumpkin goodie bags will be available for $5 per bag (reservation required), including a mini pumpkin for decorating, candy and other trinkets. The fun runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Charity cornhole tournament

Odyssey Beerwerks in Arvada hosts a 21-plus cornhole tournament from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Registration fees are $25 per team, including two beers, and proceeds benefit Pints for Prostates. Prizes include Odyssey gift cards, plus other prizes for team names, costumes and such.

Release of the week

Burns Family Artisan Ales and River North Brewery collaborated on two barrel-aged stouts, being released on Saturday. One was aged in Talnua single-pot still whiskey barrels, and clocks in at 13.8 percent ABV. The other was aged in Leopold Bros.’ bottled-in-bond straight bourbon whiskey barrels, making for a 15.9 percent ABV stout. Both Zero to Zero barrel-aged stouts will be on tap and in bottles to go at both River North taprooms and the Burns taproom.

As always, please send us your events and announcements. We’re happy to share them. And enjoy your Colorado craft libations responsibly.
