Boulder, Colo.,—Boulder’s Vapor Distillery won two medals at the biggest and most prestigious wine and spirits competition in China, the China Wine and Spirits Awards, which hosted its 2016 spirits tasting and awards program recently. Vapor won Gold medals for Rhok Gin and Ginskey barrel-aged gin.

The Chinese wine and spirits market has become the fastest growing in the world, and thanks to a booming middle class, along with promotions from large-scale online sellers, the market has only continued to explode. In fact, the country is poised to surpass nations like the US and UK as the #1 importer of wines from countries such as Australia, Chile, and South Africa. Numbers from the first half of 2016 show the market has grown by 31% in volume and 42% in value compared to the same period one year earlier.

“We are thrilled to receive two Golds at the Chinese Wine and Spirits Awards 2016. Many of the most acclaimed distilleries from around the globe compete each year, and it is exciting that our products received such positive recognition at the Chinese awards. Our success at CWSA 2016 will give us greater exposure in the increasingly important Chinese spirits market,” says Vapor co-owner Alastair Brogan.

The CWSA 2016 competition was the largest on record, according to organizers, due to the increased importance of CWSA medals for commercial success in the Chinese market. “Bottles showing CWSA medals are suitable for Chinese customers and are very successful items in the market,” says CWSA Judge Lo Tak Kuen. According to CWSA Judge and CEO at the Experience Company Mameaux Julien Yung, “CWSA medals are the highest recognition.”

Earlier this year, Vapor Distillery was named the winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2016 Denver International Spirits Competition. Vapor’s spirits have previously received eight Double Gold medals in various competitions, including Double Golds for its Ginskey and Arrosta Coffee Liqueur at the 2016 Denver International Spirits Competition and a Double Gold for Ginskey from The Fifty Best 2016. Ginskey was also named World’s Best Cask Gin at the 2015 World Gin Awards.

Vapor is the most feted distillery in Boulder County and boasts Colorado’s largest copper pot still at 1500 gallons. Master distiller Ted Palmer has 20 years of experience, knowledge and skill creating new and innovative handcrafted spirits. Vapor Distillery distributes its products throughout fourteen states in the U.S. and five countries internationally, including Italy, Denmark and Germany.

Vapor Distillery hosts daily, weekly, monthly events in its tasting room.
