Outdoor Adventure Quest Comes to Colorado

Looking for some unusual outdoor adventure this summer? Outdoor Adventure Quest (OAQ) is a three-day multisport, build-your-own adventure challenge. It combines the digital interaction of Pokemon Go, the adventure of the Amazing Race and the fun of a scavenger hunt, all in one user-friendly app.

The event takes place in one state, spans three days and includes 12 outdoor sport disciplines and more than 500 challenge tasks.

“Outdoor Adventure Quest was born from a desire to create something unique and engaging for the general outdoor enthusiast living anywhere in a state, metro or mountain town,” said Lindsey Beres, founder of Outdoor Adventure Quest.

This summer, the quest comes to Colorado. From Durango and Steamboat to the Front Range and beyond, participants can compete for a chance to win cool gear from sponsors like Denver Beer Co. and Fire Heart Adventures.

Here’s how it works: participants, or Questers, form teams of two to six and download the app on their phones. Two days before the event, the challenge tasks are released in categories of: hike, bike, climb, camp, brewery, run, outdoor education, raft/paddle, alternative outdoorsman, extreme sports and hot springs. Starting anywhere in the state, you upload photos of your team completing the task for points. As the challenge progresses, a live in-app scoreboard monitors the scores of teams all over the state with the four different ways to win: total points, photo competition, staff pick for creativity and a surprise winning category.
