Nothing more American than celebrating Craft Beer Week at your favorite Colorado watering holes.


American Craft Beer Week is upon us! Colorado breweries and bars will join the nationwide celebration beginning Monday, May 15.

The Brewers Association converted American Beer Month to American Craft Beer Week in 2006, which is now the largest national effort to support the craft beer scene. American Craft Beer Week is in its 12th year of celebrating small and independent craft brewers.

Following is a list of some of the events offered throughout Colorado during American Craft Beer Week.

May 15:

Join three of AC Golden’s former brewers at Ratio Beerworks to discuss beer! Jason zumBrunnen (currently at Ratio), Troy Casey (Casey Brewing & Blending) and Ben Knutson (Blue Moon) will reunite to discuss their time at AC Golden, the experimental beers they have created and what the future holds for each of them.

Left Hand Brewing Co. is holding their Ales4Females event in the Left Hand taproom. The event is meant to bring women enthusiasts together to learn more about beer and food pairings. Brynn Keenan, the lab manager of Left Hand, will be discussing the sensory components of beer and the key ingredients to look for. Pairings will include Left Hand Good Juju with sushi, Left Hand Braveheart Nitro with scones and Left Hand Milk Stout with chocolate chip cookies.

Loveland Aleworks is having a special release of their Darkest Day Chocolate Porter.

Front Range Brewing Co. and Wibby Brewing will host Geeks Who Drink.

Fort Collins new kid on the block, DC Oakes Brewhouse and Eatery, is hosting a mini collab fest to kick off American Craft Beer Week. Unique brews will be tapped with a toast, and a chance for the attendees to meet the brewers. 
Fort Collins participating breweries include: New Belgium Brewing, McClellan’s Brewing Company, Gilded Goat Brewing, Coopersmith’s Pub & Brewing, Odell Brewing, C.B. & Potts, Fort Collins Brewery & Tavern, Equinox Brewing, Pateros Creek Brewing, Funkwerks, Inc., Black Bottle Brewery, 1933 Brewing, Horse & Dragon Brewing, Snowbank Brewing, Zwei Brewing, Rally King Brewing, Soul Squared Brewing, Three Four Beer Co., Jessup Farm Barrel House, Maxline Brewing, Intersect Brewing, and DC Oakes Brewhouse & Eatery.

May 16:

Celebrate Taco Tuesday at Fort Collins Brewery with two tacos and a pint for $10.

Back East Bar & Grill will be hosting a Sam Adams tap takeover. The takeover will include seven Sam Adams drafts including Sam Adams Boston Lager, Sam Adams Rebel IPA, Sam Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA, Sam Adams Lychee Pear Pale Ale, along with the three winners of Sam Adam’s LongShot American Homebrew Contest. These three brews include Duane Wilson’s Wild Child, David Cousino’s Barnstorm Saison, and Graham Johnson’s Coffeehead Imperial Stout.

Loveland Aleworks will also be doing a limited release of their Cranberry Mixed Fermentation Gose.

Caution Brewing Co. and Kokopelli Beer Co. will host Geeks Who Drink.

Odd 13 Brewing will host the Butcher and the Blonde food truck as well as offer Trivia Tuesday.

May 17:

Nano 108 Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs will celebrate with the Awaken Cambodian Food Truck, as well as tapping a German Hefeweizen. And it’s “keep the glass” night. Ask about beer-infused food and drink specials.

Restaurants from Boulder and Denver will team up with local breweries, wineries, distilleries and cideries at Crispin Porter + Bogusky for a day of food and beer pairings. Participants include Ska Brewing, Ratio Beerworks, The Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project, The Kitchen, Basta, Blackbelly, Hapa Sushi, Biju’s Little Curry Shop, The Bindery, Sforno, Pica’s, Fresh Thymes, Kim & Jake’s Cakes, Fior Gelateria, Anvil Wine Company, Suerte and Boulder Wine Merchant. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Mila’s Miracle Foundation, a fundraiser for a young girl battling a terminal disease called Batten.

Fill growlers for half price at Fort Collins Brewery.

Kokopelli Beer Co. is tapping a brand-new beer. Winston is an English Pale Ale with a slightly bitter flavor perfect for quenching thirst on the sweltering summer days.

May 18:

Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom and The Mayor of Old Town in Fort Collins will both be hosting Sam Adams tap takeovers. Each taproom will feature up to six Sam Adams beers along with the three LongShot American Homebrew Contest winners.

Left Hand Brewing Company will have a special release of their Festival Fanatic. This chocolate porter was brewed for the 2017 Front Range Film Festival. It was brewed with Cholaca, pure liquid cacao. This release will include samplings of Cholaca’s liquid cacao and live music.

Odd 13 Brewing offers foos ‘n’ brews and check out the Suburban Weiner food truck.

May 19:

Left Hand Brewing Co. will hold private brewery tours. The tours are an hour long and guided by their director of brewing, Matt Thrall.

Twenty Brew Taphouse in Westminster will feature 2-3 beers from Jagged Mountain Brewing.

Avery Brewing Co. will introduce the Real Peel IPA at the Boulder brewery. It might be a tangerine dream for some folks!

May 20:

Upslope Brewing Co. will have their 4th annual Get Down at the Flatiron Park location. This all-day festival will feature live music, local food trucks and beer. Upslope has partnered with Protect Our Winters as their non-profit this year. Protect Our Winters leads educational initiatives to promote attention to climate change.

Strange Craft Beer Co. will hold its 7th Anniversary Backyard BBQ. They are featuring more than 20 beers from breweries including Black Sky Brewing, Caution Brewing Co., Copper Kettle Brewing Co., Very Nice Brewing, Strange Craft Brewing, Hogshead Brewery and several more. There will also be live music and food from Spudz & Frank’s BBQ.

Elevation Beer Co. is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a party in Poncha Springs from noon to … closing!

Nano 108 Brewing will host game day and they will tap the Sight Challenged Hog IPA.

Denver Beer Co. invites you to get your Cajun on at the 6th Annual Denver Beer Co. Crawfish Boil.

Grab the Hangover Cure Special at Fort Collins Brewery featuring a burger topped with bacon and a fried egg: $12.

The Beer Fight Club is scheduled at Larimer Beer Hall at 3 p.m. Unlimited tasters will be offered during the event from Avery, Bootstrap, Boulder Beer, Fate, 4 Noses, Gravity, Liquid Mechanics and Odd13 as they do battle with their single best beer.

May 21:

Nano 108 Brewing will host the Bison Brothers Food Truck. A German Dunkelweizen will be tapped and it’s keep the glass day.

Stanley Beer Hall will host the last Sam Adams tap takeover. This is the last chance to try the 2016 LongShot American Homebrew Contest winner beers.
