Family Entertainment That is Much More Than a Beer Fest

By Natasha Lovato

When you think of a day full of adventure for all ages, think no further than the Burning Can Fest and the Lyons Outdoor Games. Spectate or partake in an activity-packed weekend with Oskar Blues Brewery and Adventure Fit from May 31-June 1 at Bohn Park in Lyons.

Whether your niche is yoga, biking, yard games, or dancing your heart out to live music, there is truly something for everyone at Burning Can.

Make no mistake, craft beer will be ample, but so will family fun. Start the day off breathing and stretching right with an hour of yoga. The remainder of the weekend is comprised of a whitewater freestyle kayak competition, yard games, inflatable obstacle courses, an inflatable boat race, a beer relay race, a BMX competition, professionally led mountain bike rides, and of course you won’t want to miss the furry-fun competition with Dock Dogs.

Sharon Cutler, Burning Can marketing specialist, especially loves the 2019 concert lineup featuring The Red Petals, Wildermiss, and the concert headliner, Moon Taxi.

“The concert is free with the $10 entry to Burning Can Fest,” Cutler said. “I checked Moon Taxi’s tour schedule and they normally charge a whole lot more, so it's a great opportunity to see them in a beautiful and intimate setting for next to nothing.”

Within a fun-packed weekend, accommodations are half of the experience at Burning Can, which launched in 2011. Tent, trailer, RV or car camping is encouraged. Just be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time. Bring your bike, your dog, your river rafts and your family for a summer weekend you won’t forget.

“There's nowhere better to spend a June day outside in Colorado ─ and it doesn't involve I-70,” Cutler joked. “The fact that there is so much going on means that there's always something to do, to watch, to explore.”
