Party for the Backcountry
Colorado Mountain Club Fundraiser Coming to Great Divide
By Steve Graham
Brittany Smith has your weekend plans all set.
“Come to Backcountry Bash to celebrate Colorado — the people that make up the Colorado outdoor community, the beautiful places that we get to play in, and the fact that our state is worthy of a celebration,” said Smith, marketing director for the Colorado Mountain Club.
The CMC hosts its biggest annual fundraiser, the Backcountry Bash, tomorrow at Great Divide. It includes Colorado craft beer and cider, gear and vacation giveaways, live and silent auctions, and more.
The CMC will also name the Young Climber of the Year and the Aspiring Mountaineer of the Year, and give the Gudy Gaskill Award to a dedicated 82-year-old volunteer.
Smith said the event is also a great opportunity to share Colorado backcountry stories.
“You come to the Bash to meet your next adventure partner, and swap stories with old adventure partners, for whatever your outdoor endeavors may be,” she said. “It’s a party you can feel good about going to.”
The CMC offers youth and adult education, performs trail maintenance and works to protect public lands.
The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Great Divide Barrel Bar and Bottling Hall, 3403 Brighton Blvd., in Denver. Tickets are available at the door, or click here for advance tickets and more details.
