New Image Brewing Spotlight

New Image Brewing owner Brandon Capps has been in the beer business since his college days, when he interned at Anheuser-Busch. There, a co-worker turned him on to home brewing and he eventually took a brewing apprenticeship with 5 Seasons Brewing in Atlanta. From there, Capps relocated to Pittsburgh, where he went in on a brewery partnership with two other owners. However, something did not feel right, so he sold his stake in the company. While visiting Arvada in 2014 for a buddy’s wedding, he fell in love with the community, and his next dream was born.

New Image Brewing features two seasonal Saisons, a Vermont-style double IPA and an Imperial Coffee Stout. The small kitchen at New Image specializes in tapas, which should pair well with the brews they craft on site.

With no televisions and eight-foot long tables, Capps says his brewpub “emphasizes building a network of people through social interactions.” There is also an inviting outdoor patio that will be ideal for those scorching summer afternoons when a mouth-watering craft beer is essential.

Capps, who has been personally affected by mental illness, has also seen his close family and friends affected by the same issue. He is very passionate about helping non-profits, and has paired up with Project Helping, which focuses on promoting mental wellness. Capps says his brewpub is “geared towards building a community, and a new way of thinking and approaching things,” and that is why he landed on the name of New Image Brewing.
