‘PUNK IS DAD’ PROMOTES GOOD MUSIC FOR A GREAT CAUSE
For the fourth straight year, up-and-coming independent bands in the Denver music scene will come together for arts and music education. The fourth annual ‘PUNK IS DAD’ event on June 21, 2019, at the Oriental Theater in North Denver (44th & Tennyson) will feature Gasoline Lollipops, Dust Heart, and Grayson County Burn Ban (see attached poster by prominent local graphic artist, Lindsey Kuhn, for further details).
‘PUNK IS DAD’ was set up in memory of Dorian De Long, a lifelong educator, arts advocate and local music aficionado, who passed away in May of 2015. The event supports the Dorian De Long Arts & Music (DDAM) Scholarship, which is awarded annually by the Dorian De Long Arts and Music Scholarship Foundation to graduating Colorado high school seniors interested in furthering their education in the arts (www.ddamscholarship.com). The DDAM Scholarship Foundation has raised significant funds to date through the ‘PUNK IS DAD’ concerts, silent auctions (with items donated by local artists and music industry members), t-shirt sales (featuring the art of Dorian De Long), and has awarded three renewable scholarships in the last four years to help local students sustain their creative dreams.
Past ‘PUNK IS DAD’ concerts have featured influential Denver acts such as The Yawpers, The Velveteers, Colfax Speed Queen and Bud Bronson & the Good Timers. This year’s lineup will continue to offer high-energy performances and a good time for a great cause.
