Since the 416 Fire started on June 1, it has burned more than 34,000 acres in southwest Colorado. Multiple teams have been working to fight the flames and recent reports say the fire is around 35 percent contained.

With the fire burning less than 15 miles from Ska Brewing’s World Headquarters, Ska has organized Save the San Juans Saturday, when more than 25 bars, breweries and restaurants around Colorado will donate funds to Durango’s Community Emergency Relief Fund (CERF). Ska will donate $1 from every pint sold in its Durango taproom on June 23, while other businesses plan to donate different amounts of funds to the cause.

Ska has set the fundraising goal at $500,000.

While Ska was the main organizer of Save the San Juans Saturday, Oskar Blues didn’t hesitate to jump in and lend a hand. Ska and Oskar Blues have teamed up and donated kegs to a handful of bars and restaurants around Colorado, so those establishments can participate in fundraising.

“Oskar Blues and SKA are cut from the same unconventional ColoRADo cloth and have built our breweries in places we love to play in the outdoors,” said Chad Melis, marketing director for Oskar Blues Brewery.  “Hell, you can’t spell oSKAr without SKA. We’re proud to help lead the charge in helping their community respond to the 416 Fire with a week of fundraising at our taprooms,” Melis said.
