Stand-up comedy has outgrown the traditional comedy club — into bars, small theaters and now breweries.

Ron Herron of New York-based Herron Entertainment created the Brewery Comedy Tour to bring some exposure to touring comedians and to bring new crowds and new revenue to breweries.

“I think with all of the stress and chaos of modern life, comedy is thriving,” said Jason Reynard of Herron Entertainment. “People want to relax and laugh, and there are plenty of hardworking people in this country that deserve that opportunity.”

The tour is coming to Colorado this week, starting at Fate Brewing in Boulder on Wednesday, May 9. The tour is also coming to Aspen, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins and Littleton. Tickets cost $15 for most shows, and most shows are 21 and over.

At least 15 comedians are on the Brewery Comedy Tour, including comics who have performed on TV and in major comedy clubs. Different comics will perform at each show, bringing laughs to new neighborhoods.

“Breweries are tied closely to the communities they operate within,” Reynard said. “… We want to bring comedy to the doorstep of people that don't have access to a quality comedy show, whether that be due to travel or cost. We're here to share a beer and a laugh, and this seemed like the perfect fit.”
