While New Belgium Brewing was prepping its kegs for GABF, the Fort Collins brewery also took time to call out an artist who does great work in our community.
Brinkley Messick’s custom paint job and leather designs got the attention of the brewery. The design on the “New Belgium/Detroit Bikes cruiser captured the Western spirit and gained love and appreciation from fans, making him the winner of New Belgium’s Art Bike competition,” the brewery reports.
Brinkley topped 12 artists who competed for the opportunity to award $5,000 to their favorite charity. “There were so many amazing, over-the-top creative entries that we knew it would be a tough competition,” said Meredith Giske, New Belgium’s national field marketing director. “Brinkley’s detailed designs make you do a double take. It is truly hand-tooled plus his use of Colorado and North Carolina imagery really struck home for us. In the end, the people cast their vote and Brink came out on top.”
Brinkley, who lives in Salida, chose Outdoor Alliance to receive the award. The organization promotes access to public lands, as well as the protection and enhancement.
His bike is now scheduled to be displayed at New Belgium’s brewery in Asheville, NC.
